Stephen King, graduated from Cal Poly University San Luis Obispo in 1989, is a caring and competent architect with experience in a broad range of project types.  While in the employment of two San Luis Obispo architectural firms from 1989 to 2004, and in his own practice established in March of 2004, Stephen has gained expertise in residential, commercial, educational and religious projects.  Displayed on this website is a selection of projects from the period of Stephen’s own practice only, representative of a variety of project types and scales, but by no means comprehensive.  Stephen has been busy!  
 

Stephen loves architecture and loves computers.  His practice enables him to enjoy both, creating architectural designs and drawings utilizing computers as a tool.  3-D computer modeling is employed by Stephen and staff on almost all projects, both for establishing the Conceptual Design and for generating 2-D and 3-D presentation drawings to communicate the design to clients, governmental agencies, and others.  This effective graphic communication material can also be used for press releases, marketing, fundraising, project signs and other purposes.  On many projects the modeling software is used to create fly-around or fly-through animations.  Clients love experiencing the project before it is built.  Browse the projects shown on the website and you’ll see what we mean.
 

Stephen and staff use this 3-D design information as the launching point to generate a quality, fully-coordinated, computer-generated set of construction documents, with the help of engineering consultants as required by the scope of the project.  We try to “build it on paper” having a full spatial understanding of the project and knowing how it will go together.  Stephen frequently receives accolades from clients, consultants and contractors regarding the completeness and high quality of the construction documents.
